Releasing dense emotions through Pericardium Point 1

Today I want to share with you a very simple yet profoundly transformative practice from Traditional Chinese Medicine.
We're going to work with an extraordinary point: Pericardium 1, a point that helps us open the chest, release dense emotions, and recover our natural state of well-being.
But before touching any point on the body…
the first thing is to identify what state of BEING we are in.
[Transition – Inner Awareness]
Sometimes we find ourselves trapped in heavy emotions: sadness, inner exhaustion, resignation, a knot in the chest, or simply that feeling that something isn't flowing.
Recognizing this state, without judgment, is the first step to transforming it.
And the most beautiful thing is that we can do it anytime, anywhere.
[Breath + Presence]
So take a moment…
observe how you feel right now…
breathe gently…
and from this place, let's begin.
🪷 Pericardium 1: Open the chest to release emotions
Pericardium 1 is a meridian point that protects the Heart.
When stimulated, it helps release stagnation in the chest, ease emotional burdens, and restore the flow of internal Qi.
It is used to relieve:
• chest tightness
• shortness of breath
• deep sadness
• a feeling of emotional knotting
• swelling or pain in the armpit
• inner turmoil
• phlegm in the chest
• lateral rib tension
• and even provides support during breastfeeding and for processing accumulated emotional issues.
Where is this point located?
In the fourth intercostal space, approximately 1 cun lateral to the nipple and 4 cun lateral to the midline of the chest.
It is a delicate, deep, and highly emotional point.
✨ Practice: Tapping or conscious massage on PC1
Now that you've acknowledged your internal state, let's transform it.
1. Gently place your fingers on Pericardium 1.
You don't need to press hard. A loving presence is enough.
2. Begin with small circular massages or gentle tapping. Do this in rhythm with your breath.
3. Inhale with the intention of creating space.
Exhale with the intention of releasing what is weighing you down.
4. Maintain a gentle smile.
A smile is medicine in itself: it relaxes the system, opens the chest, and communicates to the body that it is safe.
[Pause]
Breathe… massage… release…
Imagine that with each exhalation, a little more of that dense emotion that was holding you captive is dissolved.
Feel how your chest opens… how the weight softens… how your energy begins to flow again.
🌿 Final message
You can do this practice whenever you need to.
It doesn't require time or special space.
It only requires your decision to return to your natural state of balance.
Pericardium 1 is more than a point:
it's a gateway to release, open, and reconnect with yourself.
